December 5, 2010

Today is the first day of my HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME WEEK. Here is what I have planned. Each day I will give you a crafting idea and do a give-away.

Here are the rules:
1) You need to be a follower of my blog in order to WIN.
2) You must leave a comment on that day's post in order to win the giveaway for that day
3) LEAVE a way for me to get ahold of you if you are drawn ( ex Kymberlee at yahoo dot com)
4) I may or may not ask you to answer a question in your comment, so PLEASE pay attention to the details!!
5) PLEASE only enter once per day on that day's post, duplicate entries will disqualify you (exception if you are commenting because you linked to my blog for an additional entry)

I will use random number generator to chose the winner each night and start the next days post announcing the previous days winner. If the winner is not a follower of my blog, I will select another winner.  You can enter daily for the Cricut Cake even if you don't want to win that days gift. Just tell me as I know that not everything I am offering will be of interest to everyone and I would rather someone  accept the gift that really WANTS IT and will use it. SO again, just tell me, seriously I wont be offended!!

YOU WILL HAVE 24 hours TO CLAIM YOUR GIFT, unclaimed gifts will be redrawn on SUNDAY Dec 12th. I will ship all gifts out on MONDAY DEC 13th!  I will ship internationally, so please enter!

The very LAST Giveaway will be SUNDAY DEC 12th and will be for an Original Red Cricut Cake, please note that this is a USED (by me) machine, but I have cleaned and sanitized it and included all new parts for it.
I will draw from the comments for the WHOLE WEEK for the Cricut Cake on Sunday. So you have a chance to enter ONCE PER DAY!!! That is 7 chances to win!!  PLUS if you link to my GIVEAWAY on your blog or facebook, you can post another comment telling me you did for another chance for that day!

If you would like to leave a comment but don't want to be entered for the GIFT OF THE DAY, then please just tell me and I wont count your comment but I will still very much appreciate you comments.

Okay so do you have all of that?? Did I really make it confusing?  I hope not because I really seriously LOVE celebrating and want this to be FUN for all this whole week!!

Todays Craft idea is...... FELT!!!
Felt is all the rage this winter with clothing and accessories hitting all the European runways. Big huge flowers, birds, animals, etc

For today's craft I borrowed (with permission) this lovely wreath pattern

What you’ll need for the wreath:
- a 12 inch styrofoam wreath form
- approximately 2 1/2 yards of felt
- straight pins (enough to match the number of felt circles needed, plus two for attaching the hanger)
- scissors
- a 3 inch circle template
- a pencil
- ribbon for hanging

Making the Felt Rosettes
Using a pencil and your circle template (or that great tutorial from maya*made), trace circles onto the felt. Cut the felt circles, and fold them in half twice to form rosettes. Insert a pin near the bottom corner of the rosette, about 1/8 inch from the corner.

Attaching the Felt Rosettes
Attach the felt rosettes to the wreath form, making sure to group the rosettes tightly enough that no styrofoam is showing through the rosettes. After you’ve added a few, fluff and adjust the rosettes to your liking. Continue making, pinning, and attaching the rosettes until you’ve worked your way around the wreath form. If you have circles that are slightly misshapen or that have a little pencil or ink on them, place them toward the outside or inside edges, where they can’t be seen when the wreath is hanging.

Wreath Back
This is what my wreath looked like on the back when I was finished. As you can see, I started off with ball point straight pins, but I switched to flat head pins when the rosette count started to get up there and I had to run out and buy more pins. If you use flat head pins, then I suggest using a thimble to push them into the wreath form, or your thumb will take a beating. Ask me how I know.

Wreath Hanger
After you’ve finished adding the felt rosettes, cut a 5 inch length of ribbon, fold it in half, and attach it to the wreath form with two pins to form a hanger.
